So sad for her family.

These thugs need to be convicted and sent to Joliet.

15 minutes before she was shot the radio dispatcher read off a list of 26 radio assignments pending, RAP, as there were no cars available to respond. About the time it was determined when she was shot the “spot shotter” reported 3 gun shots at the location where she was shot. No cars assigned, none available. An Apple Watch alarm was sent about 15 minutes later and a patrol car responded and found her. No patrol cars available to respond to serious issues no cops on patrol. The 4th district where this occurred is down over 100 officers since Lightfoot… Read more »

Interesting, I was listening to a scanner Saturday night and they listed a number of incidents. I was not aware those were incidents they were waiting for an officer to respond to.

Many times they are never answered and coded out meaning cleared with no police action. A supervisor can do that. Shots fired calls usually don’t get assigned are broadcast so any unit nearby can check. Lots of times nothing is done. Citizens calling the police to report a crime, no cops dispatched until hours later equals no report therefore no crime, therefore crime numbers drop. CPD brass happy, crime is down, politicians happy, crime is down. That’s how it’s done folks, crime reduction 101.

We’ll see how long it takes the BLM, et al, cabal to address the tragedy of this fine young Black woman’s murder.

Multiple shots to the back of the head, execution style, is the criminals giving a message to the community. “The shooting happened during an apparent stickup that officials believe might be related to another nearby robbery…” which suggests the criminals discovered she was a officer during the course of the mugging. They killed her because she was an officer and they stole her force issued weapon as a souvenir. This is what the cartel do when they come across rival cartel members. The criminals see the police as the opposition and rivals, and they killed her. This is absolute lawlessness,… Read more »

The criminals see the Police as rivals because the Black leaders, leftists and Democrats tell them the police are bad, the source of their troubles and in 2020 when the opportunity to create chaos to embarrass or subvert the president came about they unleashed holy hell on our country. The left told half the country to disrespect law and order and they will never be able to get it back. Now they’ve installed a senile, corrupt fool who will continue the terror campaign. As we mourn this young women’s death and ponder what she could have been I hope every… Read more »

The worst possible outcome.
Took 30 minutes for a police response.
Criminals now run the streets in the Chitty.
If the police are not safe, what chance does anyone have?
This will cause another few thousand residents to flee.

What a wonderful person she was. How horribly awful these sorts of tragedies are.

The other feeling I noticed as I read the article was how hard and tired the other officers looked in the accompanying pictures.

We’re nowhere near solving the problems that have created this pestilential crime. We’re not even talking about the right things, though this young woman and officer certainly seemed to understand them, and was doing her best to make a difference.

We have far too few like Areanah, now one fewer, and way too many people that aren’t like her at all.

Here’s what a 20 year veteran Cook County prosecutor had to say Friday in his farewell to co-workers e-mail: “….the worst part is that the agency for whom I work has backed literally every policy change that had the predicable, and predicted, outcome of more crime and more people getting hurt….Bond reform designed to make sure no one stays in jail while their cases are pending with no safety net to handle more criminals on the streets, shorter parole periods, lower sentences for repeat offenders, the malicious and unnecessary prosecution of law enforcement officers, overuse of diversion programs, intentionally not… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
