Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Could it be that the wonderful policies and laws of the sanctuary state of Illinois prohibit state and local law enforcement from working with ICE, and deporting the identified “worst of the worst” who were already locked up in our jails and prisons? If our wonderful sanctuary politicians hadn’t prohibited cooperation with ICE, ICE wouldn’t have to try to identify and apprehend the “worst of the worst” on the street where the “non-violent” ILLEGALS (law violators) get swept up in the course of investigations and ICE operations. Is ICE supposed to ignore an ILLEGAL (aka criminal) who they have identified… Read more »

If they are illegal aliens then they do have a criminal background…it’s as simple as that.
It’s a bit like trying to clean up after an oil spill. Nobody MEANT for it to happen. (Except I think Biden & the left did mean to flood us with Dem voters.) And no, I’m not equating humans with unwelcome pollution. We have a problem and ICE is heavy handed and the left wants every illegal to have due process and the air is full of toxic empathy and tear gas. What are we to expect when emotional adversaries work in opposition to each other and undermine all attempts to address the problem? This is more intractable than public… Read more »
The sanctuary state is the biggest part of the problem. If states and locals held the illegal aliens that were arrested, ticketed and imprisoned for crimes for pick up by feds for removal as per law.The heavy hand of the federal government wouldn’t be needed.
What a positive impact this has had on the community. I feel safer everyday. My kids can now finally walk to the bus stop alone. I feel more connected with my neighbors and fellow Americans. I am being offered raises by my job and even being contacted by recruiters for higher paying jobs. Groceries are so much more affordable. I can finally purchase a home without having to empty my 401k to come up with a down payment and pay the mortgage. Thank you oh fearless leader and masked group of bandits, you are doing the lords work. This thanksgiving… Read more »
Illegal is illegal. 10-12 MILLION NEED TO GO FOR A START
I don’t debate that illegal is illegal. The problem is that everywhere (especially in Illinois) enforcement of laws has become optional. “Sanctuary cities” are probably illegal out of the gate. The issue is which laws are going to be enforced. If every illegal alien is entitled to “due process” it will take months or years to deport anyone. Congress has not been able to update immigration laws since 1968. (They haven’t tried very hard. That’s called kicking-the-can.) Very few reckless drivers get tickets. Very few tax cheats get caught and most of them get off easy. It costs a fortune… Read more »
Breaking our immigration laws is a crime!
And if someone else in the room, house, business etc. is undocumented when a person with criminal charges/ record is being arrested, they should also be apprehended and at least checked out, hopefully in a timely manner. People are big on letting them all go, as if there isn’t an inherent flight risk for someone that is from another country and living off of the radar for years and years.
It’s an even tinier fraction of the Chicago population.
