Opinion: I’m on the Jan. 6 Committee. Here Are the Questions I Want Answered. – New York Times

U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger: "We need to restore some trust in this country, and that requires a full investigation of what happened and how the insurrection was able to take place...In order to heal from the damage caused that day, we must acknowledge and understand what happened, hold the responsible people accountable, learn from our past mistakes and move on."

you people in these comments? YOU are all cowards, for backing these insurrection terrorists & treasonous trader Trump. Patriots? You are all acting like juvenile, ignorant toolbags, GROW TF UP! Stop this “Repub vs. Dem” bs, this is what the ones that are running shit, in power, really want. While we all rage war against ourselves, they keep raking it in. We should be fighting for our freedom, justice, liberty – together. Until you naive Boomers actually grow up, stop believing everything you read on the internet, and get your heads out of your arses, everything will continue to go… Read more »

They say there is a uniparty, and in some sense, there is; but that’s too simple of an answer. There are major differences between the parties – in policy, in political donors, in locales, in party membership….it really is Republican Vs. Democrat in many ways. The parties hate each other in congress too – Nancy Pelosi feels no love for Republicans whatsoever, she hates us, and would throw us in camps if we didn’t own tens of millions of guns.

Adam, you’re a little punk…. Independent thought is fine, but you’re simply a Dem sycophant…. Sad, sad indeed.

Vote no if turncoat Kinzinger runs again. He is a disgrace to call himself a conservative or Republican. He wouldn’t be suited for the position of dog catcher.

Where is he going to run? His district is about to be redrawn and he would have to run in a district that just elected a lunatic progressive that pushed her own children into transgenderism, for the cause. He’ll be primaried out and he knows that too.

He sees the end of his political career, as does Liz Cheney, and they are bitter, angry and vengeful, and they’ve selfishly decided to try and sink the entire ship with them.

but what is to stop Dems from voting for him? Dems love him.
If they vote for him and it sounds like the redrawn district could, he still can win.
The dems have successfully executed this crossover tactic before.

Exactly right. That’s the only tactic that could explain his actions.

Rarely have Republicans rebranded as Democrats and won. 99% of the time, the traitor Republican is used and abused until they are of no use to the Democrat party anymore, and then they disappear to never be heard from again.

And considering that Marie Newman’s district (where he would have to run) just elected an INSANE progressive, Marie Newman, there’s no way these people are going to switch across the isle and vote for Kinzinger. It will never happen.

I see your point and hope you are right.
And she is insane.
She recently said on WTTW I think that the jan 6 event was the “greatest threat to our democracy since the War of 1812”. I couldn’t believe my ears.

We need to restore trust in this country, then why are you Kinzinger being a traitor you need to go now, the damage caused that day was caused by democratic corrupt politicians trying to destroy Trump, your girlfriend Pelosi Kinzinger is a very very sick lady and needs to seek help period, and you want trust in this country long way to go young man. I have questions I want answered Kinzinger, why have you betrayed your party and the people that voted for you, why.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
