Crimes that are not punished, are de facto legal. Gang members in Chicago are not charged with machine gun possession, they are rarely charged with gun possession. The few times they are prosecuted that I’ve observed, they are charged with using “a weapon” in order to avoid the mandatory fines and terms that you reference.
But in several months, when the Gun Grabber law goes into effect, you betcha that Cook and Lake will be prosecuting deplorables to the fullest extent of the law for those 17 round clips that came with their glocks. But the gangbangers with the illegal switches and 50 round barrels? Them kids just being silly, they just taking target practice at squirrels and pigeons, that’s all, no need to put gun charges on their permanent record, its discriminatory.
