This being Cook County, it was not a mistake. If the family had to sell the business and land quickly to settle their real estate tax bill, who bought the land? Did they try to buy this property before? Was that person or entity connected to someone in the tax appraiser’s office? Seems to me there is more to this story than what has been reported.
How does one over pay 300K in property taxes? Even my crib in Bowmanville didn’t rack up that much in 30 years? Do they live in the Taj Mahal?
Their tax bill went from 25k to 183k. Your Bowmanville home is a bargain. Probably only paying 6 or 7k per year and you think you are overpaying while others are truly shouldering the burden.
They ripped their toilets out just like the governor did so they better get a refund. Renting some Port-O-Potties is cheaper than the property taxes. Chamber pots are another option since they are not attached to the home. Outhouse’s making a comeback???
