Pastor Corey Brooks: America, quit the obsession with silly memes and online debates. It’s time to get serious about our future – FOX News

"My South Side neighborhood has been overwhelmed by migrants, most of them from Venezuela. They were literally dropped into our community without warning or preparation. As a pastor, not a politician, I approach these individuals with dignity, respect, and brotherly love. I’ve walked a young girl to her first day of school and welcomed many into my congregation. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have concerns about how this sudden influx will impact our neighborhood."

I’m looking forward to tasting a hotcat (mustard and no catchup?), maybe cat on a stick, cat ribs?

Fine, but *citizens* need to do their due diligence before they vote, and stop voting for scoundrels who have ruined and continue to ruin our country! I think these voters include many in Pastor Brooks’ congregation!

Perhaps your congregation should stop voting for democrats? Did you ever think that might help?

Maybe the Republican candidates should differentiate themselves in a way where his congregants would be motivated to vote for them.

That’s asinine. Republican candidates are as different as Democrat candidates as night is to day on most issues (except for uniparty issues like the Ukraine war). The congregation votes Democrat because they are exchanging their votes for welfare, which includes reparations, criminal justice reform, affirmative action, and to some extent for some members of congregation, abortion. Republicans are generally against welfare, reparations, criminal justice reform and abortion. The black community gets exactly what it votes for from it’s politicians. They get soft on crime policies, Soros-prosecutors, lots of welfare and affirmative action (6 out 10 educated black people work for… Read more »

Why? Are the democrats doing such a great job for them? Are they better off now than they were 60 years ago? What do they have to lose? More of the same? Great! You are right. Tell the Pastor to stop complaining. Keep the outstanding system you have. Your masters are geniuses. Don’t change a thing. Keep doing what you have always done. You are the exact type of simp they love. Do you think that some great democrat is going to somehow change everything? The democrats have run Chicago for over 100 years. Oshitstain was in office for 8… Read more »

Makes me wonder how Chicagoans felt when all the Poles started moving in, with their different language and customs.

Probably none too happy. I’m old enough to remember when “Polack” jokes were everywhere and considered hilarious. But there were big differences between then and now. The existing Polish community welcomed and helped newcomers to settle in. There were no housing vouchers, no free cell phones, no free medical care, etc, paid for by the city at large. The Polish immigrants years ago entered an economy in which hard physical labor was enough to support themselves. That is not always the case in the information economy. Newcomers without language and literacy skills face many more difficulties than did previous groups.… Read more »

Yeah, it was different. There were crappy tenements, and no safety nets. Now we are supposedly more enlightened. And I wouldn’t call the conditions they moved into less difficult than now. Just read (re-read?) The Jungle to check on that.

Ah, yes. I didn’t factor in how much more enlightened we are today.

The Poles have been coming here, like some of my ancestors did, since at least the 1880’s. At that point, there were only a few native ‘Chicagoans’ at that time. Poles after that were merely assimilating into communities that already existed for decades.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but didn’t the vast majority of Poles, Italians, Jews, Germans, etc. come here legally? Is that a distinction too hard for you to understand? Oh yeah, I forgot, you love the Chicago system and think it’s great. So enjoy. Hey the bears are playing this weekend. What bar are you going to to eat the bread and watch the circuses.

Anyone who is still watching Bears games at this point in the season, they should really evaluate their priorities in life. There’s a million better things to do in life than watch the Bears.

Especially when the Pack are on the other station!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
