Paul Vallas: Chicago should cap property tax growth for parcels with the worst increases – Chicago Tribune*

"Cook County’s property tax system is a case study in persistent dysfunction, and reform is elusive because the system is a cash cow for local governments. The broken assessment and appeals processes are lucrative moneymakers for the politically connected."

Oh, good; another band-aid solution to a sucking chest wound.

Thanks for overstating the obvious Paul. Yes, we know the appeal system is rigged to allow the tax appeal lawyers to have a consistent cash flow thanks to Madigan, Burke and the rest of the criminal attorneys.

I am not understanding how he thinks capping individual properties will help. Wouldn’t this just shift the burden on to other non capped properties? I can’t tell because there are no details.

Perhaps you could have won the mayoral election if you didn’t come out and bash the police before the election.
