According to Google AI, NO Chicagoan has been killed by I.C.E. during Trump’s terms. As attacks begin by criminals (attackers!, NOT protesters), shields, helmets, vests and other protective armor can be used by law enforcement. As attacks intensify against law enforcement, after the defensive use of hands by officers, the officers for DEFENSE often follow up with various “GAS” products, then pepper balls, then “batons”, (so you would rather get hit or jabbed by a substantial piece of wood?), and finally rubber bullets. We don’t seem to use water like European countries (good stuff- less injurious). I left out Tasers… Read more »

I see no reason these brave men and women shouldn’t have live ammo with which to defend themselves. The left is bent on killing each and every one of our masked heroes in green. They need to be able to fight fire with fire. And bullets.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Peaceful protests would not prompt use of these things. If a protest was truly peaceful, and these things were deployed, that would be an horrific and unlawful action by ICE, a huge problem that would have to be stopped and agents prosecuted. But ramming vehicles, obstruction by standing in front of ICE vehicles and intimidating agents isn’t peaceful. Fine lines here.

The left has been working non-stop to raise the umbrella protection of “free speech” and “protest” over their chaos and violence. Anything must be tolerated as long as the perpetrators carry signs and shout slogans.

It’s time for us to bring back common sense to the definition of free speech. If we don’t, watch out for what they will try to claim is protected by “freedom of religion”.

Competent journalists would try to interview actual ICE agents to get their perspective.

Also missing is the mention of ICE agents being killed, injured and doxxed resulting in them fearing for the lives of themselves and their families. Then there’s that whole little contract thing…

Perhaps they should collect everything thrown at them bring them to court and ask what she would do if they threw all of it at her…

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
