Hello! Residents have been complaining about high property taxes for years and that is the main reason many leave. Why should Pilsen be any different? Improve your property, whether you call it gentrification or not, the assessor is going to jump all over it. Incidentally, we moved to SC and for the last three years, our property taxes have gone down. Only $25, but still, down not up. Due to so many new homes and residents and a surplus of tax revenue. Unheard of in IL.

It’s a new era of urban renewal. You can meet with the mayor, alderperson and assessor all you want. You can file all the prop tax appeals you want. But remember one thing: All the officials you grovel before want more and more of your property tax dollars for their pay and pensions.

Welcome to Chicago and IL – you are just the latest working class victims of the Leftist Democrats and the public employee unions. Vote Democrat if you want more pain.

Love it or leave it. Taxes will be going higher for many years to come. Get used to it or leave.
PPF tells it like it is.

PPF is correct, the only answer is leave this cesspool. It’s a great feeling, home sold fund’s collected, business closed employees
Let go, funds from sale of corporation 45
Days out. Time to make choice of new home
In state that does not have personal income tax. Property tax estimated at 23% of Illinois
New auto every year with savings.
Last people to leave please turn off lights
Thank you

I wish I did my friend, the decision took quite a while. When all the family is gone
Friends also then it’s time to stop watching the destruction continue.
Pack it up and move along to better places .

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
