Pilsen shelter set to close first week of September, forcing nearly 100 asylum-seekers back to police stations – Chicago Tribune/MSN

Santiago Lopez Benitez, Owen Lopez Benitez, 3-month-old James Madison Sanchez, his mother, Maria Sanchez, and Wendy Benitez sit in the Pilsen shelter May 10, 2023, after traveling from Venezuela. The shelter was initially run solely by volunteers in the community, including the owner of the building; eventually, the Binational Institute of Human Development became its fiscal agent. Netza Roldan, the institute’s CEO, said the group opened up the space to fill in where the city was failing to provide support for new arrivals. “We basically are doing their job,” Roldan said. “We are helping immigrants with housing, with meals, with medical care, with legal education and representation. I demand (for) the city of Chicago to open their eyes, because they’re not prepared for these types of situations.”

This is a job for City Planning:

As the principal planning agency for the City of Chicago, the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) promotes the comprehensive growth and sustainability of the City and its neighborhoods. The department also oversees the City’s zoning and land use policies and employs a variety of resources to encourage business and real estate development, historic preservation, accessible waterfronts, walkable neighborhoods, and related community improvements.

Now that we know whom to fire, let’s hire some new blood(s) and get this show on the road.

Long term immigration solutions:
1) Secure the southern border and allow ONLY legal immigration. DO not grant citizenship to anyone who came here illegally.
2) DEPORT, DEPORT, DEPORT – then DEPORT some more. Expand I.C.E. and empower agents to do their jobs.
3) BAN sanctuary states/cities/etc. No entity is above the law.
4) Prosecute Mayorkas for dereliction of duty.
5) Prosecute Garland for weaponizing the DOJ
6) Prosecute Wray for failure to pursue Hunter’s laptop in a timely manner <– election interference.

Why prosecute? To forewarn other politicians who refuse to carry out the peoples’ work.

THEY work for us!

Except it now is their job. Witness the half-dozen cops stationed at Ohio-St Clair-Ontario block, “babysitting” the “recently arrived migrants” housed at Chicago taxpayer expense at Inn of Chicago hotel.

Asyolum seekers. Yea, right. What a lie.

At most there can only be 125,000 asylum seekers NATIONWIDE each year. And that 125,000 figure was formerly 10,000 under Trump.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
