Who is Lightfoot kidding when she says Chicago is going to recruit more qualified and diverse police applicants. What reasonably intelligent, ambitious person, black or white, male or female, isn’t going to see better opportunities anywhere but in police work.

Wally, read between the lines. She wants more recruits in her image: an armed force of social justice workers more concerned with punishing people like you. Kind of like the enforcers during Mao’s cultural revolution. She’s not hiring them for police work because like you pointed out, few people are interest in that. She has no interest in actually arresting criminals! That’s been obvious for years now. All is okay. The liberal agenda out there is to eliminate police and replace them with social workers, job coaches, therapists, community activists etc. So therefore, no problem.
