Preckwinkle says Cook County government will continue to help Chicago’s taking in of in migrants – WBBM (Chicago)

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is lashing out at the Texas Governor, too: “This is part of his effort to gain sort of I think national attention...and he’s using these poor folks as pawns in that larger game, which is despicable,” Preckwinkle said.

Look how many migrants in central America and at the will get wind of this and come in droves since the welcome mat has been laid out. Remeber when Obama siad something similar and they came by the thousands now it’s by the hundreds of thousands and maybe millions. There is a reason this is happening. So many migrants who do not understand the language and are here illegally will lay low and not make waves when it comes to politics. Citizens who live hear are somewhat more informed and could if they want to change the political landscape upsetting… Read more »

Toni is eager to help Lori with this altruistic endeavor. Knowing full well Lori will bungle it! There’s more than a little hate in their relationship!

Absolutely correct! Toni has played her constituents for fools all these years. Exactly what has she done for them?

I’m seeing a lot more panhandling at highway off-ramps in the suburbs and at busy intersections, often from women with children. I’ve lived here my entire life and I’ve never seen this before. But now, with hundreds of thousands of new immigrants claiming sanctuary, but no skills, jobs, or money, the begging and panhandling will only increase.

Same thing is happening in the Detroit burbs with many 3rd world types in hijabs.

To think my grandparents needed sponsors so they wouldn’t become a public charge. So sad what democrats have done to us. I sure miss the America of my birth.

Have seen a big increase in Rockford. I can imagine what Chicago looks like. Panhandling is huge in third world countries and so is crime.

Cook County also claims sanctuary status. The county should already be well prepared to accept a few busloads of migrants. What’s the problem?

“Poor folks” who entered this country illegally, and volunteered to take a bus from Texas to Chicago because Chicago’s where they’d prefer to be.

Pritzker et al brag-n-bloviate all of the time about taking credit for Illinois and Chicago being sanctuaries for illegal aliens.

Little Laurie and the DC and NY mayors just sound stupid every time they try to parse this into some sort of Republican evil.

The more they all talk, the sillier they sound, and the better I like it.

Look in the mirror, Toni.

The headline should read “Cook County taxpayers to pickup tab for illegal aliens.”

There Toni, I fixed it for you.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
