Preckwinkle Takes CRE To Task For Racial Inequity – Bisnow

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle began Bisnow’s Chicago 2020 Forecast event Wednesday with some tough words for the commercial real estate industry. In her keynote address to hundreds gathered in the atrium of GlenStar Properties’ Schaumburg Corporate Center in suburban Schaumburg, she called out the industry for its lack of diversity, noting that the county’s population was 25% Latinx, 24% African American and 8% Asian American.

Latinx is not a real word. The official institute for the Spanish language has said that Latinx is not a real world. Latinx is a fake word. The only people who use this fake word are upper middle class liberals who feel that replacing improper ‘x’ with the proper and correct ‘o’ at the end of the word is somehow more inclusive. It is not, it is offense, and no anglo needs to be telling Spanish speaking people how to use their language.

And you also have people who use some real words wrongly with frequency such as the word “tax’s” which from the context in which it’s written should be written as “taxes.” I say this not to embarrass but to try to educate since others in that person’s sphere clearly do not wish to face the likely ridicule of doing so. Now, I’m that target, I presume. That individual should be grateful since most who read or hear such things likely know which spelling to use and when to do so.

Tax’s is not a usage I see often. And let’s be honest, not everyone like us can spend all day writing and communicating with others. I’ll pass on an incorrect spelling especially on the internet.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
