Ted joined Greg Bishop of the Center Square to discuss the Pritzker administration’s continued denial of Illinois’ population losses. Ted pointed out that every piece of data from the IRS to moving vans reports is showing a massive out migration of people. The state can’t turn that around until politicians acknowledge those losses.

Expect no retraction or apology. This what they do.
The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.
If the machine controls 100% of all branches of gov with knee pad press in tow why worry about the truth? The scam is as folks flee the few remaining will pay more & more, especially as the COVID $bucks$ run dry. Look for a lot of Ralph Martire & crew spinning tales of systemic EBF under-funding in knee pad press to the few dopey believers left.
Since Fat boy says there is no population decline and you slaves absolutely believe him, there is no problem. Your state is doing great. All those stories about people either leaving or talking about leaving are just baloney. Have you really ever known anybody that has left or even talked about leaving? As one democrat filth told me, there are thousands of people and businesses banging on the doors to get in. Keep doing whatever you are doing Illinois. Your neighboring states thank you.
Pritzker and the Leftist Democrats do what they always do when the facts aren’t to their liking – try to discredit and name call. That’s the Obama/ Biden/ Harris M.O. in politics – it’s not to solve problems. If Democrats where responsible and interested in meaningful solutions, they would ask for an audit of the Census data. But bloviating and name calling is much easier when you know that even if the Census where off by 50%, outbound migration from IL of the high net worth and best and brightest is a huge problem.
Perhaps the counts Pritzker et al are using were made by Chicago school graduates and, as we know, mathematics is generally not a strong point in Chicago classrooms.
Pritzker knows what is happening. His first concern above all else is collecting tax revenue. Big government can dole out all sorts of favors. So no matter his public statements he knows year upon year out-migration hurts his objective, especially since the people leaving make more than the people arriving. One can guess he is internally reacting to this by doubling down on a graduated scheme of taxation (aka tax the rich).

Well said. It’s all the left knows how to do.
DENY their support for the twin evils of abortion and IVF.
DENY the invasion they are facilitating and replacement they are overseeing.
DENY the fact that the US is now a third-world country.
DENY that right-thinking people are fleeing to the few safe places left.
Interesting points. This must be more of that definitely not racist and in no way sexist discourse Wirepoints prides itself on.
I wonder what the truly rich and powerful think of Mark and Ted when they check in on Wirepoints only to find clown comments like the above.
I suspect they will think we allow viewpoints like his, viewpoints like yours and all of us in between, unlike the the cancel mob of today’s left.
That’s not at all what we think, Mark.
Wealthy Reader, huh. Color me impressed.
if the comments section on this site as we see it is any indication, there’s not really any reason to think any of WP’s readers have any money. reads like it’s all a bunch of whiny retirees upset that they blew all their money during their working years without thinking about long-term savings or personal finance plans.
Nah, I am still working. I will retire in a few years and will have the luxury of permanently leaving this state and simpletons like you for a very comfortable retirement. Currently building one of my retirement homes in one state and will be building a second one in another state in a few more years. I already have Phuc U money, will never have Phuc everybody money but that’s ok because I will be able to say Phuc U to many people like you.
While it’s well known that commenters are not very representative of readership, it is true that the political axis has reversed: The left is now the party of wealthy elites and the right is the working class, which has been well documented. From what we can tell, our readership is heavily people in business or finance, but if that’s wrong, great! I hope it is the working class who reads us. I don’t really give a damn about helping the wealthy, except insofar as I want them incented to stay engaged and productive, lifting all boats. It’s the working class… Read more »
Actually, many Illinois medical professionals are driven away by entitled litigious irrational cult-member attitudes like L.b. expressed.
L.b. would be well-advised to get medical training so he can deliver himself his own entitlements.
I always read this blog like the articles are aimed at those of us with any money, while the comments are from the people who can only wish they shared in our problems.
As do I. If things like a 0.3% tax rate hike or a long overdue plant closure in BFE affect your quality of life…..then you ain’t one of us.
The folks who hate Illinois so much they obsess over it and who care so much about Chicago that they won’t set foot in it. Being a republican in Illinois has never been productive but before this crowd came along it at least used to be fun.
The rich irony is that your comment is just as idiotic as the OP but you can’t even see it.
