Pritzker, Bailey square off in first of two debates, each accusing the other of lying – NPR Illinois

Top Pritzker-Bailey debate moments everyone will be talking about | CIProud.com The debate moved through a variety of topics, but State Sen. Darren Bailey tried to find moments to attack Gov. JB Pritzker on Illinois’ high property taxes and the state’s reputation as a poorly run government with an unattractive business climate. Pritzker claimed that if Democrats keep improving Illinois’ previously dismal financial picture, eventually the state could see lower taxes, but declined to answer how many years he thought that might take.

Pritzker and the Leftist Democrats seem obsessed with late term abortion and infanticide – so incredibly extreme.

You’d think every woman gets 4-5 abortion a year based on the Democrats obsession

You’d think that conservatives are getting car jacked 4-5 times a year. That’s the nature of political campaigns. Take an issue that could happen and turn it into the biggest issue in someone’s life. It’s why most people tune out political ads.

4.93 per day last year in Chicago alone. Now, those aren’t all conservatives but that’s the number.

I was referencing Stewie’s “every woman”. Every conservative is not getting car jacked yet it’s an issue.

Conservatives shouldn’t worry about crime. They’ve never been carjacked.

I agree!

And not only that, but they put out the word for those in states that respect life to head on over here for participation in murder; including soon getting out their portable death mobiles heading out near borders.

It’s just absolutely stunning that they make this the top of their platform!
Sadly, they know who THEIR constituents are, and so they bloviate towards their mentality. ;(

And apparently all those abortions are due to rape and incest based on the commercials.

I was at the debate. Pritzker told many lies, several of which I wrote down. #1. claims that the state budget is balance. #2. Claims that Illinois has a budget surplus (prove it). #3. claims the “Safe-T” act won’t increase crime rates or property taxes. The man is living in fantasy world.

I wanted to smash my TV on multiple occasions. Pritzker’s arrogance and lies are sickening.

“the state could see lower taxes”?…not in my lifetime

I manage some properties in Florida, some years taxes are lower than the prior year. Some areas the sales tax rate decreases. Don’t see that ever happening in Illinois

This is a little off topic but the governor mentioned Rivian in the debates. I believe he mentioned about adding 1M EV’s by 2035 or so but not sure. What was not asked is how will all those EV’s pay road taxes like on gasoline vehicles? I think the plate fees will be very expensive and in addition mostly likely a per mile driven tax.

If they start charging per mile tax, I’m out of here. EV don’t work like they think and end up overloading the power grid.

Eventually, once enough EV’s are on the road, every state will need a way to raise taxes for roads other than a gas tax. If you want to keep it as a “use tax”, then we will all be paying a per mile tax regardless of which state we choose to live. It’s coming and it’s only a matter of time.

That’s an odd thing to finally drive you out of Illinois when most states will need to implement a similar tax.

Here’s an article from Oregon and how they tax EV’s

Yes, taxing per mile is most likely to happen across the country. The main opposition is from environmentalist that want to tax “evil” carbon emitting fuel.

Taxing per mile has bipartisan support in Washington.

Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), the top Republican on the House Transportation Committee, said the switch to a miles-driven tax could take place quickly to shore up funding for the nation’s infrastructure.”

It’s going to happen in every state in some form in the not so distant future. Threatening to leave? Where will these people go?

Agree but how will taxes be different in every state? If you live in Illinois and work in Wisconsin and most of your miles may be there but your car is registered in Illinois the tax here may be higher. So your mileage will be based on Illinois taxes. That’s just for state taxes plus there may be a federal tax.

That’s a detail to be worked out at the federal level. If you live in Illinois you’ll be paying a per mile tax to the state of Illinois. I’m guessing everyone will be paying a per mile tax to both the fed and the state in which they reside. Either way, more tax revenue will be needed from alternate sources as fewer ICE cars are on the road. Maybe the liberal states will charge a per mile tax that factors in the weight of the vehicle. If you’re driving a big SUV that weighs twice as much you may end… Read more »

Even though Wirepoints was not mentioned by name I think Pritzker compared it to “Carnival Barkers” when he said there are sites that simply lie about the facts like school performance. Not exactly sure on his wording. Mark-Is it possible to have a transcript of the debate? This way we could discuss what and who he meant by that term. Does anyone know what the makeup of the audience was like are most students or was it a mix from various age groups. If it was mostly students they are most likely not homeowners who pay outrageous property taxes and… Read more »

Pritzker was expressly saying Wirepoints is “right wing carnival barkers.” He said it when asked about the recent Wall Street Journal editorial about our report on education. In truth, our report was entirely based on the state’s own numbers. We will have a column up on this tomorrow.

Isn’t that Pritzker’s M.O. now on tough issues, knowing the Chicago media will backstop his lies?

Has been his MO ever since he got in. Not to mention that his staff (that he pays extra out of his own pocket) shoo away reporters when things start to heat up. Transparency and truth?? Not with this scammer

I wish Bailey would have stated that all the info was taken from state’s own numbers. Maybe he will get an opportunity in the next debate. Also, I really wish the Illinois learning Standards for Sexual Health Education would be addressed in a meaningful way. In case anyone from Bailey’s team reads these comments – call Pritzker dishonest, not a liar and don’t interrupt. 🙂

Thank you for bringing up the topic re: his malicious and wrong comment about the organization being a bunch of “carnival barkers”! Not only is this character a bad administrator and leader and a liar, (I don’t trust one single thing that comes out of his piehole), but he has a lower than poor record, and it is beyond time for him to exit. We have seen/heard how he tries to smear those that shine the light on the dark and failing side of this state. He is an overgrown baby that cannot take the truth and lashes out when… Read more »
