If cites and states refuse to cooperate in deportations there may not much that can be done- unless they actually violate law in very specific ways.

What does get out of the way mean? What if locals set up a defense fund for illegals to fight deportation? What if locals refuse to share arrest records? Short of physically stopping federal agents not sure how locals will be guilty of obstruction. There are currently about 1.5 million illegals that have exhausted their due process and have an order to deport. The sad part is that illegals will be drawn to states like Illinois, California, Colorado and New York. Therefore the residents who are stuck here (for any variety of reasons) will be forced to bear the brunt of these BS policies. Even though I am one of the people who are stuck in this God forsaken state, I hope Pritzker keeps running his mouth and draws national attention. He is driving the nails in his own political coffin. His money won’t be able to BUY enough votes nationwide if he keeps up his leftist rhetoric.
Yes, you have to think that illegals in other states would not be heading to IL and other sanctuaries, but I have seen nothing reported on that yet.
Most illegals aren’t just throwing darts on a map for places to move. They move where they have networks of people they already know, often siblings, extended family members, even neighbors. For a supposedly family oriented (la familia) as Latin America is, most of those countries have out-of-wedlock birthrates that rival the African-American community in the US. Yes, I’ve seen research confirming that they go to where they have networks. I saw a small bit of realism in a WBEZ piece today, of all places, saying there are about 500K illegals in IL. Most of the press rarely mentions that and focuses just on the 40K or so who are registered in the system in Chicago. Most research I saw earlier indicated the actual total in IL is probably more like 600K.

What really irritates me is how do these courts come to this conclusion and just flagrantly trample the Constitution of the United States of America.
Irregardless of a state or city or county or town proclaiming ‘sanctuary’ for illegal aliens, the Federal Government can enforce its laws. I can’t wait for Pritzker, Johnson, or any other nut bag Leftist Democrat to obstruct Holman in his duties.
Sanctuary applies to not denying illegals housing and emergency healthcare and schooling. It does not apply to the harboring, aiding and abetting violent felon illegal immigrants.
Just to be clear, sanctuary rules like Illinois bar local officials from assisting the feds in the enforcement of immigration laws, and courts have said they can do that. But you are right that affirmative acts like harboring, aiding and abetting can be banned by the feds.
Well, let’s take a minute to define chaos. Would chaos be akin to looming structural budget deficits in the billions, one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, huge tax credits gifted to failing EV makers, a shrinking population, state public transportation agencies facing a fiscal cliff and a new Administration that won’t do a thing to help you because you arrogantly pissed them off?
