Pritzker Extends Ban on Coronavirus-Related Evictions Until Feb. 6 – WTTW (Chicago)

Illinois’ ban on most evictions is in its 11th month. Evictions filed and approved before the pandemic can move forward if there are “serious health and safety concerns,” officials said.

The elimination of private property is one of the first things the communists go for. Landlords can not evict, tenants don’t pay and if it goes on long enough the landowners lose the property for delinquent taxes. Then the Government will own the properties so quite frankly maybe it’s all going to plan at the moment.

I don’t understand how corona virus and evictions are linked. Covid is an illness and evictions are for non paying tenants. So because of a virus you cannot evict someone. Might as well add in high blood pressure or diabetes or even a toothache or male pattern baldness as a reason for not being able to evict a non paying tenant. P.S. Where in a rental lease is it stated that due to Covid you can not be evicted? Must be between the lines somewhere. I need to get my Secret Sam decoder kit. Maybe the letters C-O-V-I and D… Read more »

The reason I brought this up is I received an email from Illinois landlord legislation advocacy advising me to contact my local reps about Senate Bill 3066. They say that that bill if passed could extend eviction moratorium until Oct. 1,2021. I did skim over the bill and dates were Oct.1. Maybe you could look at it and see if that is correct.

The supposed link is that the evicted, in financial dire straights due to coronavirus shutdowns, would move and join other crowded households. This would spread coronavirus. This is likely true because 3 out of 4 people catch coronavirus from someone in their home. The only tool JB has is to suspend evictions. The collateral damage, however, is astronomical. But he doesn’t care for two reasons: 1. the evicted are his voters, the landlord likely is not; and 2. To JB, all people worth less than a billion is a pleb, and he doesn’t really care if a landlord loses $10,000… Read more »

There’s no science linking them at all. None. Covid is just an excuse for another far left power grab. You could argue that covid entitles everyone to a free car to avoid crowded buses and trains and free food delivery to avoid crowded grocery stores

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
