This is Illinois, so we must use tax dollars to make it look like we are doing something. Be on the lookout for non-stop tax increases as this guy keeps trying to make it look like he is doing some thing. Does it EVER stop??? :/

New positions coming soon to your Illinois government: abortion coordinator, sex change coordinator, pronoun coordinator, crisis coordinator, wage slave coordinator (needed to pay taxes), toilet removal coordinator, etc. . .

Maybe so, but for those who truly believe in the increasing presence of climate change a laissez-faire attitude from government officials has not brought us to enough amelioration on it. So, its arguable to such folks to think this may help and matter more than enough to justify the expense.

What is this position even needed for?

I want to buy the product, and the product is fit for purpose, then I proceed with the purchase.
No gov apparatchik needed.

N.B. – I have an EV and bought for purely economic purposes. No gov involvement necessary as that market is functioning. Hence, this is a BS gov job, but I repeat myself.
