Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. It’s one thing to insist on gender-neutral language in a context where the person being referred to has a roughly equal chance of being male or female (or non-binary or whatever). For example, changing “the client and his or her representative” to “the client and the client’s representative”, or “the client and a representative”. However, 99.9 percent (or more) of persons who give birth are women and 99.9 percent of prostate exam patients are men. It’s sad and scary that this sort of nonsense hasn’t tripped the citizenry’s “OK, that’s enough, this is silly” circuit breaker. I believe that we’ve made a toxic, adversarial minefield out of men or women (or boys and girls) who ‘transition’ through dress or surgery into a non-biological gender. The left has no limiting ideological principles. Not one of these insane things has made democrats say, “Whoa, that’s a bridge too far, let’s take it back a notch.” It has been the exact opposite, in fact, they just want to accelerate until the point they can throw us deplorables into camps.
