Years ago, my father was pulled over for having his hat on the dash. To this day, I still think that cop was an ashhole. I agree with the new law.

I don’t often agree with these guys, but this time I do. TBH, I didn’t even realize my air freshener was illegal. Guess I’m still breaking the law, but I want my fresh pine scent…
I agree. I once had a lawyer, who had been a police officer before he became a lawyer, tell me that the only legal item on a dashboard of a car was a religious statue that was no taller than 6 inches.
Really dark tinted windows are illegal here too but it is selectively enforced. Tinted windows are legal in other states, especially sunny desert states, so that the occupants don’t cook alive while driving. But in IL, the vehicles with the darkest tinted windows are usually up to no good….
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
