Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Prikster, just another failure on a long list. These rubes will not even allow debate of this subject in a public forum and now want to indoctrinate kids that can not read, write or add 2 +2. All from the state that refuses school choice and the list of failures go on.
If climate change education meant teaching kids that 1) the Earth’s climate has changed numerous times and will continue to do so, 2) that many factors other than human carbon emissions influence climate change (solar activity, volcanic eruptions, etc.), and 3) the Earth has been a lot warmer than it is now (e.g., the Medieval Warm Period) and survived, that wouldn’t be a problem. More likely, thought, it means teaching kids that “OMG the Earth is burning up and we’re all going to die if we don’t stop using all fossil fuels yesterday!”
While he’s at it, how about signing a bill that requires education in schools. Apparently, that is not the purpose of a school in the Peoples republic of Illinois.
I learned about climate change in grade school, the Ice Age.
In view of the fact that there are set school hours what classes does Pritzker suggest cutting to include this new venue into the schools?
And the teachers are amazed about the declining level of parental support. But they did not push back on teaching this obviously partisan material. 30 years ago Johnny was told the teacher was always right, and if they called home, he was in trouble. Now, any reasonable parent coaches their child that other than the three Rs, they must be skeptical of what the teacher is teaching – whether in social studies, history, health or this subject. The politicians and teachers brought it on themselves.

This is but the tip of the iceberg. Next up, the junk science of masking, how teachers will determine a child’s sex, how conservatives are ‘far-right’ rubes, deplorables, mouth breathers, and carnival barkers. All to be determined by the leftist Marxist Democrats.
And we wonder why kids can’t read or do math. Schools are woke madrases. They are not designed to teach, but instead, indoctrinate.
Schools should focus on Reading, Writing and ‘Rithmatic, not communist climate alarmism indoctrination!
Also, passing non-partisan Civics courses explaining our governmental systems should be required, before graduating from high school.
The children can’t read what the hell are they to do, stare at the pictures. They will not be able to check their pay stubs to make sure they have not been cheated out of wages. Great job CPS.
Agreed – I have no problem with the districts teaching science…but this won’t be science. This will be indoctrination into the climate hysteria. Have you looked at the reports of student performance and district effectiveness – you pandering goof ball – Pritzker?
First teach kids to Read, Write and Math…do that well…prove that it is being done and done well. Then add to it, once you have significantly improved the basics. Because, right now, spending any additional funds on teaching “Climate Change” is just plain political and provides NO value at all.
