Pritzker signs new law establishing full-day kindergarten in Illinois – NBC5 (Chicago)

Under provisions of the bill, full-day kindergarten will need to be offered by school districts by the 2027-28 school year, though some schools could qualify for an extension of that date; half-day kindergarten will still be offered for parents who request it.

To be honest, I think this is a good thing and likely the only thing he’s done I agree with. In more affluent suburbs, this has been in place for several years. For a handful of years prior to the free full day, our district offered full day at a cost ($4,000).

You can be sure there will be no charge for thousands across the Illinois area meaning the taxpayers will foot the bill for this.

They will now have more time to indoctrinate the children on sexual perversions and confuse them as to which gender they are or are not. I hope we see a mass exodus from parents out of the Government Indoctrination centers.

Oh goody…another unfunded mandate for the downstate school districts that are already having problems thanks to the new minimum mandated 40,000 starting salaries

Really, just day care. Little real learning and what there is would be made up by 2nd grade.

Day care is expensive and many parents want this so they don’t have to pay for it. Naturally our Socialist GA and GOV will provide it at someone else’s expense

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
