Pritzker spends $323M on 2 campaigns for governor – Illinois Policy

Neil Steinberg, columnist from the Chicago Sun-Times, said Pritzker’s avalanche of cash can’t be ignored. “Can anyone make an observation about him that isn’t somehow tainted by the third of a billion dollars worth of hype firehosed at us over the past four years?” Steinberg wrote.

Will we witness an epic showdown in 2024 of 2 self-funded candidates in JBP & DT…?

He / she, who has the most money wins…?

I shudder at the prospect…

I would argue that Pritzker’s oversized political spending is reckless – IL is a leftist extremist state with Democrat super majority – Why would a Democrat need to spend so much to be Gov? It does beg the question – Why did Pritzker illegally cheat on his property taxes (even though the Feds refuse to prosecute) if he is fine spending so much needlessly on politics? More often than not, those who inherit great wealth squander it. Seems JB is doing that to a good extent. The Hyatt hotels are mostly really average now.

I’d like to seen a recent, and accurate, accounting of the money Pritzker spends from his personal fortune to supplement the wages of state employees. Who too, and how much.

Seems like that entirely dodgy deal dropped off the radar screen just as soon as we learned about it.

Thanks for the negative vote.

So now I’m trying to understand who, other than Pritzker and the state employees who take personal pay from him for their state work, would object to someone asking about this.

In any event, your negative vote having established that there really are some people out there who don’t want to talk about it, I REALLY want to see those numbers.

IIRC his close staff had their pay doubled. They answer to him, not to the state of IL.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker put $152 million into his bid for re-election against state Sen. Darren Bailey, down from $171 million for his 2018 campaign.

Where did all this money go? Media buys? Probably not. A lot goes into the ground game. A ground game that secures ballots for nursing homes, long term care facilities, college campuses, dead people, infants, women registered under their married and maiden names….

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
