Pritzker’s ex-tollway chairman accused in lawsuit of trying to steer contracts, hire pals at agency – Chicago Sun-Times

"Not long after taking office in 2019, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed legislation that restructured the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, promising 'transparency and accountability' and declaring: 'Our new leadership will uphold the highest ethical standards, deliver the value to taxpayers and serve Illinoisans in every corner of our state.' A new lawsuit filed by two former high-ranking tollway officials paints a different picture of the state agency under Pritzker’s chosen team."

Director of the tollway makes in excess of $200K a year. Chairman of the tollway board makes in excess of $200K a year. Evan’s brought in 11 friends of his to new positions at the tollway most them earning 100K + a year. Biggest corrupt agency in the country.

200k isnt a lot of money to run a tollway system. Only teabillies think making 100k is a lot and makes it corrupt. Almost standard for most executives at any business. Just jealous teabillies hating on the successful. Bunch of losers.

You are correct. $200k is pretty standard salary for an executive position.

The problem lies in that it is a political job with political appointees who are often and usually unqualified and incompetent. These people would be walking and grooming dogs for a living if they didn’t get a political hack job with the Tollway.

And the absurd pensions.

Poor dogs. Hate to see what they would look like. Probably would end up with transponders around their necks.

I tried, called the county highway dept and they said call the tollway. Called a state rep and his office was trying but the the tollway said it’s a County problem and the County says it’s a tollway problem. Bottom line, nothing fixed after several hundred thousand dollars was spent to “repair” the… Read more »

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
