Gaza war protest in Chicago blocks traffic on Lake Shore Drive – Washington Examiner

A protest in honor of Palestinians who have died in Gaza shut down traffic in both directions on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago on Saturday. Protesters from two organizations, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network and the Coalition for Justice in Palestine, lined up on the road to block traffic for hours. The groups were protesting the Biden administration for bypassing congressional approval twice to use its emergency powers to sell ammunition to Israel.

Tolerance for this nonsense began with the “mostly peaceful” protests that were anything but “mostly peaceful.”

So, why not more? No consequences for any misdeeds in Chicago anymore.

Circling the drain.

Any Trump fans want to comment on your point of view that J6 was okay, too, for the same “mostly peaceful” reason? Personally I’m okay with denying Trump the Presidency for truly promoting the violence of that day and the threats against the peaceful transition of the highest political office we have. As he said so enthusiastically in advance “it’s going to be wild”! Now, doesn’t that alone suggest his knowledge of the general pre-planned aura and political purpose of that day? This Chicago event is but one more example of how something initially appearing peaceful can turn uncontrollably wild.… Read more »

Yeah. Right. Sure.

Your “Probably not” parting comment was meant to be dismissive and disrespectful. That appears to be your MO, James.

The J6 riot was wrong – not going to find too many people who would disagree.

Amazing the aggressive response by the DOJ after the J6 riot, but nothing after the summer of 2020 chaos and destruction? Yet the aggressive response failed to arrest and prosecute Ray Epps, a filmed provocateur.

Get the shameful similarity?

I believe you do, but your politics may be over powering your reason.

Hardly any Wirepoints commenter other than me is ever dismissive and disrespectful? That’s not how I interpret numerous commenters’ remarks, and to me it’s become somewhat de rigueur here. Polite discourse in America is nearly dead when politics is discussed, and any Wirepoints newbie will see that immediately. But, that’s probably also true for nearly every other political forum in this era, I suppose. The art of gentle persuasion is giving way to people choosing to buy weapons to bring their viewpoint to those who disagree. America is becoming ever more hostile to opposing points of view.

I appreciate your remark to the effect that commenters on political forums tend to be more consistently strident than likely is the case for the public at large. I agree, and its a good reminder to all of us as I see it. As to the rest I have no axe to grind there and will let it stand unchallenged.

In my response written only a few minutes ago I should have said my “probably not” remark was aimed not at you at all but at the “any trump fans” whom I had addressed at the outset. Actually, while it was not apparent to you I was agreeing with you and castigating “any trump fans” who approve his despicable words and actions while often castigating the same things done by others elsewhere as your example provided.

Trump is even more unbecoming!! I wouldn’t vote for him for any office whatsoever. His whole aura is disgusting.

WOW!! Shut down LSD for a couple hours and only 2 protesters arrested only to be released a couple hrs later. And probably no charges filed. And no coverage in local press??….unbalivable

“Shut down LSD for a couple of hours and only 2 protesters arrested, only to be released a couple hrs later. And probably no charges filed. And no coverage in local press?”

Had the same group attempted to shut down an abortion facility or a pediatric “gender” clinic for a couple of hours, you can bet they would have all been arrested and charged with multiple felonies and the local press would be screaming their heads off about it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
