Profane exchange: Lightfoot, chief City Council critic tussle over police tactics during looting – Chicago Sun-Times

Ald. Ray Lopez said the mayor told him he was “full of s--t” when he demanded to know her plan to protect neighborhoods. His response? “I told her, ‘F--k you. You don’t know what’s going on.’”

Good for the alderman for standing up to her. She has totally screwed this up and tries to tell everyone that everything that can be done is being done– when it is obviously not the case. it is nice to see a little independence in the City Council. If you have looked around the City in so many places she can not fool people who can see the damage with their own eyes.

A couple weeks ago Lightfoot sternly warned up she would “throw you in jail” for not wearing your Covid mask. So those rioters without Covid masks better watch out, she means business! The brick in your hand is ok though, but she better not catch you gathering over 10 people or not wearing a mask or you’re going to feel her wrath.

Can someone ask Lori if she thinks her covid policy is systemically racist? Assuming everyone can watch Netflix, order Amazon Fresh, and make memes/TikTok for months on end! But she would be the first to lecture others for injustice especially her own PD!

It’s terrible to say, but you ain’t black unless you vote for Biden, and you ain’t black unless you support looting and arson. Lori feels the same way from her ivory tower. I say: “Don’t be black, be American, like the rest of us who see no color, and support America, not looters and arsonists.”

Every additional hour provides more evidence that the Empress (of scolding) has no clothes. I grieve for the impact and implications of her ignorance, but am amused by the spectacle of her mismanagement.

This is so sad – elections have consequences. Chicago and Illinois are stuck with partisan hacks it seems.

I think Chicago would have seen the same outcome if Periwinkle had been elected.
Both, her and lightfoor portray the image of a militant racist.

I guess the question now is if a courageous decent person came forward, would the people support them? Maybe it’s way to late for Chicago?

Lopez is not WRONG! She has no plan! She is implicitly siding with the rioters. Also, let’s stop calling these people protesters. They have no set agenda except for anarchy and chaos.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
