Prosecutors reject charges against 5 suspects in deadly gang-related gunfight in Austin: ‘It’s just like the Wild West’ – Chicago Sun-Times*

The police report acknowledged that victims of the shootout (more than 70 shell casings were found) weren’t cooperating with investigators. But the report also framed the state’s attorney’s office’s decision to decline charges in a different light: “Mutual combatants was cited as the reason for the rejection.” Mutual combat is a legal term used to define a fight or struggle that two parties willingly engage in.

Mutual combatants, I like the sound of that. Lori Lightfoot announces the Mutual Combatant Zone at Soldier Field. Exiting the south tunnel are the West Side Warriors and exiting the north tunnel are the South Keeler Killers. Both teams equipped with more than enough firepower in a shoot to the death match. Come one, come all, fun for all ages at the newly remodeled Soldier Field. All seats safely behind bullet proof glass. Come cheer your team on. Fun starts at 1:00 pm with a carjacking demonstration where the victim is dragged from his car and beaten. Perfect re-use for… Read more »

It is almost inevitable that at least one of these five will be arrested again, after having killed an innocent bystander in the next shootout. Will Kim Foxx then be charged with aiding and abetting? How else can this decision be described? The next murder is on you, Kim.

But Chicago you voted for Foxx! Bad choice next time make better choices or put your head in the sand!

Did the people or the fixed voting machines vote for Foxx?

I heard this was captured on video. So there’s no crime in discharging a handgun in the city? Clearly there has to be something they can be charged with if it was caught on video.

Well, if this is the way the liberal prosecutors are telling the combatants to play the game, the strategy to a successful outcome is obvious. Get more and stronger guns / firepower. This is why Democrat cities become shitholes – by design.

By this logic, anybody who uses force to lawfully protect themselves or others against violence by aggressors will not be given the protection of law or courts.

It all depends on where your skin color and/or gender identity is on the intersectional hierarchy.

Insane, Madness, Chicago prosecutors saying this is ok to do. Chicago is a total sewer and not a place where civilized people desire to live in.

Talk about becoming Worse than Detroit on roller skates willingly.

Gang shootouts are ok now, but God forbid a Cop tries to make some extra income to support his family.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
