Around 5 p.m. Saturday, hundreds of protesters gathered in the bitter cold at Federal Plaza in Chicago's Loop. They say the Trump administration's military action is "risky to American lives" and many demanded an end to the bombing campaign in the Caribbean.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. At what point in time does it become clear to people that democrats are the enemies of America? They don’t just hate Trump. They hate America. Trump is the embodiment of America to them. Democrats for the most part are losers who are angry at the society that proved them to be unable to successfully function in it. As such, they hate it for exposing their inadequacy.
I’ve seen a couple of news reports from Chicago stations posted on X and none of the protestors are from Venezuela. They are all White SJW’s protesting. Venezuelan’s are partying and celebrating while people with purple hair and nose rings are carrying signs. As Ataraxis points out below the signs got printed really fast. Why can’t I get that kind of turnaround when I get things printed?
How many actual Venezuelans took part in the protest? They probably would not have left Venezuela if they supported Maduro.
They didn’t protest when Democratic presidents actually killed foreign leaders. They didn’t protest when Obama and Biden put bounties on Maduro’s head. Democrats are such hypocrites.
And in Venezuela are celebrating by the tens of thousands. Exiled Venezuelans in Florida are celebrating by the thousands. Mentally ill, pink haired bored women with unfulfilled lives are in a panic.
I guess the unemployable nose rings and Marxists such as Sigaldo -Sachez or whoever he is don’t know or care about the lives lost to smuggled drugs and cartel members planted in the US by Maduro. They are either incredibly stupid or get a check from Soros to continue protesting something, anything now that Musk, Gaza and ICE are ( temporarily ) no longer on their radar.

The verb “demand” or “demanded” is often misused in news articles. You demand something if you have the authority, power, or leverage to make or cause the change in question to happen. Otherwise, your demand means nothing. For many of these news articles I’ve read, the entity demanding, be it a protest group, mayor, governor, etc., lacks the needed authority/power/leverage to make the demand meaningful.
It’s not about defending Maduro.
It’s about the dangerous precedent.
Now any narcodictatorship that has been in power for 26 years, persecuting and murdering opponents, and disregarding the outcome of elections,
is at risk.

My favorite part is Brandon’s comments at the end of the story. We certainly are fortunate to have a mayor who is an expert on military planning, international law and the risk of expanding military activity right here in our own city.
