Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I don’t think that Seattle and Minneapolis levels of rioting will ever happen in Chicago, for these reasons. This kid that was shot didn’t appear to be black to me, he looked hispanic. Secondly the white wokesters in Chicago, fully indoctrinated in academic leftism…. Are too meek to get their hands dirty, face damaged or a police record. Also, it seems like even some of the most partisan people realize the Adam Toledo shooting is a tragic case, with bad facts, where the cop made a split second decision. Only the most hyperemotional people are running around saying Adam Toledo was murdered. Even the journalists are kind of taking a step back for this one. I mean, the kid and his buddy just fired 8 rounds into a passing car as they attempted to murder someone. It has been reported that many of the rioters in Seattle and Minnie are out of towners and out of state Antifa and BLM thugs. Just a matter of time. They know Chicago is ‘welcoming’.
Yes, I agree. Attention will wane if they just stay in Seattle and Portland doing the same thing night after night. They will look to expand the stage, and Chicago seems to be ripe for their next act.
