Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Oak Park had its decades of value. Parents’ home purchased in early ’70’s sold for 10x the price in 1995. Schools and community programs were strong, crime scattered. But its Progressive label was the foundation for creeping Leftism and…well, here we are. A microcosm of the Chicago slide and a looming question in terms of whether the good residents can hold it together.
Good? They made their bed now they can lay in it. We actually considered Oak Park for our next house but decided against it after the painting fiasco and “white male privilege” outburst at council that went viral.
Who cares?
I certainly don’t…
No sympathy. The left encourages violence, they encourage the scorpion to sting and then act surprised when the scorpion stings them.
The Mob can never be satisfied. Democrat Mayors and politicians who choose to ride that beast will be devoured by that beast.
All the democrats hope for is that the beast eats them last
The homes of the following mayors have been vandalized this year.
Friday June 12, 2020 – Olympia, Washington (Thurston County) Mayor Cheryl Selby.
Tuesday, July 21, 2020 – Oakland, California (Alameda County) Mayor Libby Schaaf.
Tuesday August 25, 2020 – Oak Park, Illinois (Cook County) Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb.
Friday August 28, 2020 – San Jose, California (Santa Clara County) Mayor Sam Liccardo.
You left out Portland, OR Mayor Ted Wheeler. The irony of the Oak Park situation is once the police are defunded, who is the mayor going to call to complain to about the trespassing and vandalism, Black Lives Matter?
Monday August 31, 2020 – Portland, Oregon (Multnomah County) Mayor Ted Wheeler.
The condominium building was vandalized, but not the unit in which Governor Wheeler resides.
Governor Wheeler subsequently announced he plans to move out of the building.
All of the above mayors are members of the Democratic Party, targeted by what seems to be leftist vandals.
