Quick Hit – $600 Million Appropriated to Euphemistically Named NGOs in Illinois – Breakthrough Ideas

"Of course, Chicago is where the vast majority of these NGOs are located. Most of these NGOs started out as non-profits raising funds on their own. But, now many of them receive the majority of their funding from state taxpayers."

Does state or agencies distributing these NGO grants have any oversight regulations? If not truly astoundingly sickening. I’m amazed reps aren’t all over this.

These are the same shenanigans that pervaded USAID, found out by DOGE.

How does one ‘find out’? These crooks are doing it in spades. This is also how politicians’ friends and pals gain sudden unearned wealth. The gravy train mentality infests all levels of government.

All indiscriminate NGO grants should be frozen until an accounting is given to those who have our money confiscated to fund all this tripe. Perhaps it should all simply be stopped cold, since Illinois can’t pay its bills.

And they all likely contribute to Democrat political campaigns. With our laundered tax dollars. No wonder the Democrats seem to have bottomless campaign funding. Just like all of the USAID scams. There is something criminal here. Hey Pam Bondi!!!

Please read this article. Holy Crap. This is a slush fund of giv-aways to doners, friends and patrons. $600M of tax payer dollars thrown away in these NGO’s. The stated purpose of these organizations are laughable – they aren’t even trying to sound credible! Many make no sense at all?! What in the hell is going on in springfield when these politicians can by force take our money and then, quite literally, throw it away??

Count on this topic being an ongoing one by us and a number of others like Ives. This is a major scandal.

I learned something today. At random, I checked the website of one of the grantees and their Board of Directors includes a “Vacation Hair Specialist.” Oh, what wonders you will see!

Different kind of patronage and kickbacks, but effectively the same. Anyone care for an audit?

Withdraw all tax funding of shadowy, unaccountable NGO’s.

This is the only real solution. Yes, this is the classic schoolroom ‘one ruined it for all’ punishment.

The taxpayers have been punished enough.

There must be some record of the owners and officers of these entities. It’d be interesting to know who these people are and who their connections are. Does the Pritzker family run any of these NGOs? Other elected officials. In a state that permits elected officials who are lawyers from doing business with the state ie property tax appeal firms, one always suspects loopholes and hidden access to govt $.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
