Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

Jeanne Ives is Illinois’s last hope.
Rauner’s attack ads aimed at Ives enhance Ives’ credentials. Based on her many years in the Ill. Gen. Ass., Ives knows that progress in repairing Illinois’ deadly financial condition depends on cooperation of Madigan. I trust Ives to negotiate with Madigan without digging a bigger hole for me and my ancestors. The real reason Ives is Madigan’s favorite candidate is because: Madigan understands that it’s going to be a lot easier for JB to beat Ives in November. Madigan wants Ives to be the Republican nominee so the Madigan machine & JB can destroy her.
That is their path to victory.
Then they control the map after 2020 census, which means it’s all over for IL until 2030.
That’s what Rauner should be saying.
Wrong. Rauner’s negatives are so high that even a crook like Pritzker would beat him easily. A clean candidate, with consistent principles like Ives would thump Pritzker.

I’ve gotten a similar card from the Rauner campaign for the last six days in a row. All I see in bold letters is Jeanne Ives. Good enough for me to keep her in my mind.
The only good part of these +$500k, each, mailers is..rolled up they make great fire starters! ?
I’m flooded in now so at least the mail delivery has stopped. 🙂
