Lots of good stuff in this article. Such as the alderman who complains there was no discussion of “new revenue.” Of course he doesn’t suggest clawing back hiked benefits or salaries. Because the very reason so many of them are in office is because they hiked benefits and salaries in exchange for campaign contributions, campaign assistance, and votes. There was never a plan to pay for hiked benefits and salaries. Most retiree pension and healthcare hikes were unfunded. Many current salary and benefit hikes were possible in part because money was diverted from pension funding to hike the current salaries… Read more »
