Rep. Bobby Rush Proposes Renaming Interstate 57 After Barack Obama – NBC5 (Chicago)

Interstate 57 originates on its northern end in Chicago, and runs for 386 miles through the heart of Illinois before ending at Interstate 55 in Sikeston, Missouri. According to Rep. Bobby Rush, Interstate 57 is the only Chicago-area expressway that has not been formally named after an historical figure.

As the vegetable in the White house is wont to say, “Come on, man, here’s the deal.” Let’s name Interstate 57 the “Obama Carter Biden Expressway To Failure” honoring the three worst presidents that the USA has ever had. Millard Fillmore’s ghost will be proud to move from the number three to the number four spot.

That’s Great. When on your way to visit loved one’s being stored at Marion you can ride proud on the Barack Highway!

I’m offended to have it named after Obama, the most racist, divisive president in US history. He started the racial division in this country and was totally incompetent.

Exactly. And how much have he and Moochelle done to help Chicago? Have they ever proposed even ONE good idea? No.
Michelle’s senior thesis research paper at Princeton was 50 pages of imploring successful blacks to go back to their cities, live there, work there, and try to make a local difference. Talk about a hypocrite. She and Barry win the prize.

Lets name everything after black people, elect more black politicians, and then be told how racist whites are. I know in the back of my mind that all this stuff is a ploy by the left to keep people at odds, divide and conquer plan, and its working,I’m more racist now than ever in my whole life.

I don’t think they even think that far off.

Perhaps public infrastructure should not be named after living, active political figures? This kind of public endorsement of living politicians is unsound. Bobby Rush is imagining that he is still relevant, and he did get some free publicity..

Naming things after an historical figure. Name it Obama and it would be named for an historical failure

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
