Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I say we should keep Standard Time all year long!
This is so massively dumb. Ummmm……there is the same amount of day and night year round on average. 12 hours of each I’m thinking. Politicians may think that they are all powerful, but the basic physics of the earth and the sun can’t be changed.
Daylight savings time all year long was tried in the 1970’s. It was a miserable failure and was quickly discontinued. Rep.Holbrook is either too young to remember that fiasco or he lived through it and has forgotten the misery it created in the winter months. It’s a really stupid idea.
Totally agree with this!
Ahh. You can have sunlight later or earlier but you cannot have longer days AND shorter nights.
Thank you!
Mother Nature doesn’t give a fig about what the clock reads. Daylight savings is an artificial construct.
