Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Going back in history, most family trees have a generation that was mistreated by another racial group. Should they all get reparations? This is just more liberal foolishness.
The National Education Association (NEA), which is the biggest teacher union in the United States with state and local affiliates nationwide, adopted as modified a reparations resolution (New Business Item 25) at its annual July 2019 conference called the Representative Assembly (RA).
