Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The Democratic 2024 convention site team hasn’t even been here and Fox is saying Chiraq is going to host the convention? That’s weird. There hasn’t been sufficient time for those cash filled envelopes to change hands, nor have the site team members had an opportunity to cut some of those back room secret deals. And Lori hasn’t figured out how she is going to humiliate herself and the city as well with her nasty and execrable behavior.
Will this be a repeat of 1968? https://www.history.com/topics/1960s/1968-democratic-convention. Then the Vietnam war was raging. Now different wars are raging within our country. Abortion/Immigration/Crime/Energy/Shortages/Nonstop Covid response and boosters to no avail/Nonstop misinformation campaigns from media/Fearmongering/Medical Mandates imposed by politicians based on a one sided science with no opposing debate/Supply chain issues/Divisiveness within each political parties and between each party/School curriculum protests/Mass shootings daily/etc.Will the police take a “Let it Burn” position and just stand back? Then we had Walter Cronkite. Now we have media puppets and marionettes telling us on how and what to think. We’ll see what happens.
Good point, Freddy. This is a violent time and there may be particularly angry divisions by then within the Democratic part, just like 1968.
Abbie Hoffman and Tom Hayden are dead, but Bill Ayers and Bernandine Dohrn are still available. And their adopted son Chesa Boudin should also be available to attend.
Chicago is the perfect place to show what liberal policies can do. Not sure why they want to highlight the segregation, extreme violence and fiscal mismanagement but have at it.
