Resolution calls for SNAP benefits for all Illinois foster families regardless of income – Center Square

State Rep. Sue Scherer said that if every foster family received SNAP benefits, more parents would enter the foster care system. “We’re losing a lot of foster parents because of the fact that they can’t get SNAP benefits unless they qualify, not counting these children that they take on."

When I consider a purchase I first assess the necessity, then where the money to pay for the item(s) is coming from. Savings? Credit card? A gift? Perhaps legislators should ask themselves … where is the money to fund their latest, greatest idea is coming from. If the state can’t afford it, then perhaps it shouldn’t be considered. The state’s credit card is overdrawn.
