Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. The state’s existing buyout program for its own pensions is the precedent for Chicago, which should be a warning: Look out for similar exaggerated claims and shoddy analysis.

I invite readers of this site to go to Miller’s site Capitolfax. It has does have some good information but It is strongly slanted from the Left. And the readers/posters are the same. Fair enough, but if one makes an intelligent response that is counter to that left wing ideology then it will probably not be posted. Particularly if it is reasoned and backed up with data. Miller just can not tolerate that. Particularly if you do it repeatedly. Very, very intolerant.
Nevertheless, give it a go. He needs to be ‘bombarded’ with alternative views.
You do it one time and he blocks your IP address from posting so you can’t post again. I just go there for laughs.

There are three significant differences between Wirepoints and Cap Fax: 1. Wirepoints articles are often original research based upon verifiable data and facts. Wirepoints is labeled “Far Right” by Illinois Democrats, IL media and Miller because these facts and data are unpleasant for the left and they would prefer that they remain unknown and buried. 2. Cap Fax does have some good information but all must be read with skepticism. Any bad information regarding the article topic is certainly buried, smeared and/or omitted. Miller loves banning those with opposing facts. It would be fun to see a situation where he had to face real facts for once being unable to bury them.
Capitolfax will also often report on (and thereby elevate) innocuous and inconsequential Republican activities that seem more like trolling Republicans than actual reporting. These are often the articles that garner the most comments because it allows the left-leaning readers to level some easy cheap shots and have fun.
And he will often spend lots of time dissecting and critiquing financial reports critical of govt spending yet let pro-tax articles stand on their own without comment.
That kind of censorship is now a hallmark of the left, a total betrayal of how liberals used to defend free speech. Miller crawls back out from the fat fold between Pritzker’s stomach and crotch to parrot more Democrat talking points. BTW Miller, they are called Criminal Illegal Immigrants. Deportation is the only solution. In the meantime maybe you want to offer up your sweaty crevasse of a home? There is plenty of space in that fat fold.
Oh what a conundrum for our Dear Leader. The ink isn’t even dry on his unbalanced budget, and he has to rescind his promise to illegal immigrants that the free stuff train would keep on running. No doubt this makes him even more uncomfortable than wearing a suit in 90 degree heat, but sometimes leadership is hard. Turns out all those bold claims about Illinois fiscal health were just another load of road apples. It sure is tough bananas trying to run a state when residents and businesses are fleeing and you’re trying to launch a presidential campaign.
Can’t recall where I saw this but apparently the recipients of this medical assistance program get a better deal than actual citizens on regular Medicaid because they aren’t in managed care like regular Medicaid recipients. Also, since when is a $250 copay for a hospital stay and $100 for an ER visit considered unreasonable for people who have private medical insurance through their employer?
Native Illinois residents are quickly discovering that illegal alien non-voters are more important than the deplorables.
