Rich Miller: Improbable end for Michael Madigan – Herald & Review (Decatur)

"There was no joyous celebration during last week’s Statehouse press conference by the 19. (Rep. Terra) Costa Howard even appeared to tear up while speaking, maybe remembering the trauma of the ferocious push-back she and her colleagues endured as they were told over and over again by colleagues and union leaders and others that they were siding with chaos and defeat over continuity and victory and would be punished accordingly, no matter the outcome."

Miller clearly indicates his bias in this article, praising Madigan’s performance lavishly, while the state languishes at the bottom by any fiscal measure. For all the times he has praised Madigan’s control of his inner circle, he acts as if those charged prior to Madigan were acting on their own. Madigan has been charged with selling influence for personal gain. Call it out! Miller also says he warned Madigan and McClain “as a friend” not to continue to harass Cassidy. The guy has zero credibility.

The Government is accusing Madigan and his friends of running a criminal enterprise. Miller wants to let us know of his inside baseball ties, but doesn’t seem to recognize that he is regaling us about his relationships to people the Govt and others now allege are gangsters. And gangsters operating within state government! Not a place I would want to be. In this vein, I am not sure the purpose of his article. Does he simply regret not having the same access to the source of power (albeit corrupt)?

How long before Rich goes under indictment? We know he sold his soul for insider access. We as citizens of IL have a right to know if he traded anything else. What will future indictments reveal about him?
