Rich’s dilemma is that he left himself no room for nuance in the debate. He went all in on mask mandates, then ridiculed anyone questioning the mandates (even at this juncture) as anti-science, then elevated the few anti-vax extreme minority viewpoints in an attempt to label on any and all reasonable dissenters are wacko extremists. While all this plays quite well inside his echo chamber, he has a paper trail of columns to cover up.
You might say he dug his own journalistic grave, but it’s more like quicksand. The more he struggles with the logic, the more he sinks.
Rich’s mainstream readers, many on public payrolls, could care less.
On the plus side, wearing masks in schools now counts as credit towards the Performative Arts.
