Rifle-wielding men robbed a woman on a busy Wicker Park street corner. CPD decided not to chase them – CWB Chicago

Across Chicago, robbery reports are up 24% from last year and 38% from 2019. The increase is primarily due to incessant armed robbery sprees like this one: Small groups of young men, usually traveling in stolen cars, sometimes committing more than a dozen robberies at a time. But the Chicago Police Department has become so risk-averse that its supervisors almost always order patrol officers to terminate pursuits of violent offenders, even if the cops see an armed robbery committed firsthand.

Well this is what the Chicago voters voted for so all I can say is Happy Holidays to them as they sit in the situation they made for themselves.

Imagine owning an expensive home or condo in Chicago and being afraid of going out at night, or having to constantly look over your shoulder. Even funnier when they voted for it!

It’s called Anarcho-tyranny.

The reason these flash robberies are so successful is the CPS is teaching “carjacking 101”. It’s the most attended and successful program CPS runs.

I don’t blame them for not chasing criminals. Do you think this administration would have the cops back if something bad happened during a pursuit?

Even if caught the system would have them back out on cashless bail in 24 hours to rob more people.

It truly is the wild wild west. God help us all. Thanks to JB and the Chicago social justice warrior crew for putting everyone who ventures into Chicago at risk.

It’s bad but not as bad as the 90’s. Not that it makes it any better.

It seemed that the violent crime in Chicago in the 90s was more concentrated in certain parts of the city. I think in the 90s you could’ve walked or driven in the near north, north, northwest, or southwest parts of Chicago without worrying about being carjacked or held up. Or, maybe I was just lucky not to be victimized in the 90s. Anyway, today, you can be carjacked or held up in almost any part of the city; sort of an equal-opportunity scenario.

While it might seem like violent crime is more spread out now, it was not, violent crime was everywhere. It only seems like this now because many areas that experienced high crime in the 90’s are now completely gentrified: wicker park, bucktown, logan sq, west loop (near the Henry Horner homes), near south side, old town (near Cabrini Greens), and so on. There were magnitudes more shootings back then too compared to today.

There were 7,285 shootings in the first 6 months of 1992. There were 934 people killed in 1992.

According to Hey Jacka** there’s only been 3,000 shootings in the first 11 months of this year.

Where is Jethro Gibbs from NCIS? He could take care of them from 1,000 yards away.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
