“Eradicate law enforcement” as we learned from Mayor Johnson.
Describe the difference between failed “socialist” regimes, and a country like Gaddafi-era Libya. You will find the answer to why so-called socialism fails. Corruption.
Socialism fails because it is contrary to human nature. Corruption is an inevitable result, not a bug that keeps ruining a perfect idea.
Regarding Libya, foreign corruption perhaps. So-called capitalism can be equally, if not more corrupt. Endless grifting and waste to make Wall Street great again – $5 trillion on a fake pandemic, $1 trillion per year on Department of War spending, $500 billion on Artificial Intelligence this year, $25 billion per year on NASA … Ukraine, Israel, Argentina, Pharma. But yeah, it’s the people on SNAP that are the real problem.
You don’t like how public money is spent. Neither do I. So how does that make socialism the answer? It doesn’t. That seems to be the part you are missing.

It is hard to deny that socialism sounds great on paper when you compare it to other econ models. Free schooling, free education, free medical care, food for everyone, lots of days off, cheap housing, free or subsidized public transportation– and everyone happy and treated exactly equally. But you have to be poorly educated or willfully ignorant when the evidence is so clear that it just doesn’t work. Can’t believe that only 35 years after the end of the Cold War, people are still so clueless as to believe in a failed and tragic system that killed – and continues to kill – over 100 million people, and billions of others to survive under that ghastly system…
Seems that so many who vote democratic are all for free stuff for everyone. The elected people seem to just parrot that thought for votes and people think its ok to “tax the rich” to get free benefits and services. Most of them are too stupid to understand the problem and stop their thinking at “get free stuff”…they don’t have a clue as to how it is paid for, but they really don’t care. Conservatives and common sense have got to win the day here.

You do not know what race you will be.
You do not know what gender you will be.
You do not know what country you will be born in.

We don’t have to rely on John Rawls’ thought experiment. We see what’s been happening in real life.
People are trying to get into countries founded on western values. Nobody is trying to get into Venezuela, or Cuba, or the Islamic countries. They are fleeing those places.
The results of the “thought experiment” are already clear.

Take your Intro to Philosophy 101 and shove it. This is John Rawls’ infamous veil of ignorance thought experiment from his 1971 book A Theory of Justice. It was crap when I learned it in university and it’s crap now too. Why should we accept this thought experiment at all?
When I lived in Florida I worked with a number of people who had emigrated from Venezuela and I asked if it was as bad as I had heard. They all said it was far, far worse. They were so glad to be gone. Those in favor of it need to move down there for a year first.
