Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. As mayor BJ says, just yutes funnin.
The price you pay for living in Chiraq.
Let’s see now, no chasing of vehicles with armed violent criminals. No shooting at moving vehicles. Must file a report whenever an officer draws their firearm and then the incident is investigated to see if the officer violated policy. Body cam must be activated no matter the circumstances and footage will be reviewed in super slomo to see if policy was violated so the officer can be suspended or fired. No foot chases. Must use proper pronouns or else. Okay officers get out there and do your job.
Great summation.
You must understand: the no chasing policy comes after tens upon tens of millions of dollars in jury verdicts that Cook County jurors have awarded Plaintiffs arising out of police chases. Jurors have awarded criminals, felons, innocent bystanders, all of them $$$$$ from police chasing criminals. The city loses nearly every chase case at jury trial and on appeal. Cook County jurors award big $$$$$ to Plaintiffs – including the criminals themselves – who become injured as the result of police chases. Just recently, an individual in the car with a felon who tried to elude police, was injured when… Read more »
My post was about how handcuffed the cops are. No matter what happens the officer is always at fault. Chases are very dangerous for everybody involved and I’m not pushing that agenda. The juries in Cook County are idiots who reward criminal behavior. Again there’s a serious crime problem, violent crime, and the entire system supports and encourages that behavior. So much criticism about cops doing nothing what would they do if faced with the roadblocks. The city will cover compensatory damages in a lawsuit however if there are punitive damages the city could refuse to pay and guess who… Read more »
No arrests as usual.
The next “Mad Max” movie will just be a documentary about Chicago’s wild robbery crews. The only thing missing is tying the previous victim to the hood of their car while they drive wild through Chicago looking for their next victim.
Only time will tell if the adage “A Liberal Is Someone Who Has Not Been Mugged” is true or not. If trump gets more than the 10% of votes in 2024, then the mugging is working.
Wait! Where are the Mayor’s counsellors and orange vested peacekeepers. We haven’t heard much about them lately. Maybe they are taking all their paid time off over the holidays. But come to think about it– where have they been the last six months? Where are their performance reviews and a report on the progress of the entire goofy program? Any bets on whether we ever see either one?
My prediction is that they were just car pooling on the way to Kimm Foxx house for Thanksgiving dinner and needed some gas money.
Chicago’s best and brightest no doubt. Let’s applaud these young industrious men out working hard, and on a holiday no less. Mayor Brando will recognize their high productivity without question.
