Ron DeSantis assails Illinois policies and ‘woke’ ideals during Peoria visit – Journal Star

DeSantis brought a crowd of roughly 1,150 Republicans to the event at the Peoria Civic Center, plus protesters and the New York Times. While he did not announce an anticipated run for president while in Peoria, he did use a roughly 42-minute speech to take shots at Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and levy a barrage of verbal jabs at Democrats, while also lauding his accomplishments as governor of Florida.

The clear implication by Pritzker and the Dems is that if DeSantis is such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad person that he’s not welcome in Illinois, by extension, anyone who agrees with him doesn’t belong in Illinois either.

One big disconnect: DeSantis is not targeting LGBTQ+ adults, he’s addressing the indoctrination of children.

If more LGBTQ+ individuals realized that, they might be more willing to hear what he has to say. MSM calling the Florida bill ‘Don’t Say Gay,’ was a red herring that too many people took literally.

Adults are free to do as they wish; kids should be allowed to be kids and make life-altering decisions when THEY are adults. Hormone therapy and “upper” and “lower” surgeries shouldn’t be performed on children – no matter how confused they or their parents may be.

Adults should be banned from transitioning also. We’ve already allowed consenting adults to transition. But they always come for the kids next. That’s just what they do. Creepy people who think they are the opposite gender are, by their very nature, groomers, who want to come for the kids. By banning transgenderism in its entirety, we can avoid them coming for the children. Because you cannot separate transgenderism from grooming children – they are inexorably tied together. The evidence is right in front of you. Allow adults to transition, and they come for the kids next. There’s no magical way… Read more »

Being gay, I agree with you 1000% – the whole trans thing is not only degrading to women, but *absolutely* evil… I’ve known many trans people, and maybe *only* about one in ten is not EXTREMELY screwed up… the vast majority are EXTREMELY mentally ill…

I’m gay and an avid supporter of DeSantis’ policies. Every time someone brings up his supposed “Don’t say gay” stance, I reply, “Cite me an exact quote where he used that phrase in public, or in his proposed legislation… or *anywhere*…”. That always shuts them up, as he’s never used that phrase…

I’ve come to the conclusion that liberals lack even the most *basic* reading skills/comprehension… this puts them in the “imbecile” category. I see this up close with our Evanston city government…

Yeah, your statement seems politically neutral and research-based to me—not!

Of what value is “politically neutral”? Sounds more like “unless you agree with the leftist status quo, shut up.” Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way.

That’s your take on it but not my intent. People read another person’s words bur tend to ponder them first through their own set of predispositions. It’s my impression Wirepoints solicits diversity of thought. You don’t have to agree with mine and versa vice.

Mark, the problem in Evanston is that everything now has to follow a woke “social work” agenda, that hews not to facts but solely to ” feelings “. I’ve been involved in a neighborhood group battling a terribly – run homeless shelter (the Margarita Inn, a former hotel). We’ve got our facts about increased crime, decreased property values, etc., but we are outgunned 10 to 1… now Evanston is a huge magnet for vagrants and bums – and that is by *design*. Then the dopes wonder why downtown is dying, etcetera…

MSM is afraid of DeSantis beating Biden, so they’re trying to poison the well before the primaries so it clears the way for Trump to lose in the general election.

DeSantis has to make it through Trump first, and Trump is rising in the polls rather quickly.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
