RTA safety summit hits nerve with concerned CTA, Metra riders – Daily Herald*

Metra officer Robert Carreno and his dog on patrol at the Ogilvie Transportation Center.Participant Kevin Brubaker said that in the past he rode the CTA Blue Line any time he needed to get somewhere. "I think much more carefully about it," said Brubaker, deputy director of the Environmental Law and Policy Center. "I now think of the Blue Line after 6:30 p.m. the same way I used to think of it at 2 a.m. It simply doesn't feel safe like it used to."

Kevin, you need to take a page from Bernie Geotz’s guide for NYC Straphangers. It’s and old tome but I think it’s main points would work on the Metra.

Honestly I have been expecting a Bernard Goetz like renaissance on CTA and on Chicago streets ever since the 2020 fiery but mostly peaceful riots. When the law becomes pointless and ineffective then the citizens will assert their second amendment rights. Of course Kim Foxx will explode in a racist fireball at any attempt by the citizenry to harm and defend themselves from her coddled and helpless “victims of social injustice” but at some point the vermin criminals will get the point and behave in a civilized manner or they will die.

Ooh, Bernard Goetz. You’re dating yourself, but I remember.
