SCOTUS weighing challenge to IL two-week-long mail-in vote counting system – Cook County Record

U.S. Rep. Michael Bost and two other Illinois Republicans filed suit in the weeks leading up to the November 2022 general election, seeking a court order blocking Illinois from counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day, if those ballots included votes for federal offices, including U.S. House of Representatives, Senate or President. The lawsuit took aim at the law enacted by Gov. JB Pritzker in 2020, which used the Covid pandemic to greatly expand mail-in voting in Illinois.

The State of Illinois is just enshrining in law what Chicago and Cook County have always done with vote counts in national elections. Wait till the other side, Republicans, have their votes counted and then discover an even larger number of Democratic votes to swing the election.

Interestingly enough, when you dive into the precinct data, some democrat candidates seem to receive more votes than others. If you do the math, that means that slightly over 1/3rd of the straight ticket Republican voters – voters who voted for Trump and every other Republican, rejected every other Democrat on the ballot but then, suspiciously said, this guy, this corrupt career politician, let’s vote for this pol. In the past, I looked at this politicians sunshine… Read more »

I’ve looked at the vote totals in my precinct in close races and they often don’t make sense, with it seemingly appear that dozens of votes go missing on obvious straight ticket Republican ballots around certification time, roughly two weeks after the election. I live in a purplish area (there aren’t many left in Crook County!). For example, Trump had three dozen more votes than the R congressional candidate in my… Read more »
