Sen. Durbin still thinks Illinois is growing, hasn’t heard back from Census – Center Square

The official tally from the U.S. Census shows the state lost around 18,000 people over the past 10 years. Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kathy Salvi, who faces incumbent U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth in the November election, said, “Honesty is always the best policy. You can play with statistics, numbers, as much as you want, but I’ll tell you, people are hurting.”

Every time Durbin “thinks” he weakens the Nation.

Durbin is also out lunch where he dismisses the Chicago Tribune in this column as being conservative. It has gone far left and woke, both the editorial side and news, suppressing major stories even more flagrantly than the national MSM.

Isn’t it funny how the Republican platform is basically the same as it was 50 years ago, and the Democrat platform has almost nothing in common with their platform from 50 years ago? And anything it might have in common is merely lip service, nothing based in reality.

It sure is.

Durbin has never held a real job in the private sector.
He’s been in the Senate for 25 years and has zero accomplishments.
His only legacy will be that he called our brave US troops Nazis.

How many pensions will Durbin get? He has held city, county, state, and federal positions and qualifies for pensions for each. Plus his wife is a well compensate lobbyist. No common man is Dick.

Durbin the disgrace of Illinois is an idiot. He should be known as the Senator of Cook County because that’s all he cares about.

Democrap dogma says Illinois is growing: It’s growing.

Do Nothing Durbin is frustrated because he hasn’t found a way to take more of your money to dole out to the people who continue to put his worthless behind in office. In the history of the United States it is difficult to find a Senator who was in office longer, and accomplished less, than Do Nothing Durbin. He is all talk and no action. Not one redeeming quality.

Ex,

In Michigan we had two Congressmen of long tenure but little accomplishment. One was John Dingle at 50 years (and may hold the record) and the other was John Conyers. They’re both gone now. So is Detroit…..

Ex,

I forgot to add that John Dingell’s seat is now held by his widow. As you might have surmised, they were soul mates ( but not in a good way for us Detroiters).

Durbin or Biden? In all their years in congress, what major legislation has these two grifters introduced that benefitted people other then their family and friends?

Durbin is like a blind squirrel that finds a nut once in a while. He’s introduced two bills I can think of, the first is that he wants to allow private student loans to be discharged in bankruptcy. This is beneficial because college tuition will decrease to reflect the new reality of the relative scarceness of private student loans if private loans dry up like the industry whines about. College should be cheaper and we need fewer DEI and gender studies professors. They will be the first to disappear in a new reality without private student loans. Secondly, Durbin wants… Read more »

I agree you on Durbin but when it come to loan forgiveness I agree in part only. If the loan was fraudulent to some extent like excessive interest or very confusing repayment rules like interest only that part should be reworked and reduced so they don’t end up paying forever. Private loan interest rates if excessive should be forgiven to the lender and maybe paid for by the government. As far as bankruptcy I agree with PPF that it is a contract between the lender and borrower and if allowed what is to keep everyone from borrowing as much as… Read more »

Yes, the details need to be worked out, the American Bankruptcy Institute has proposed, IIRC, something like if you are 7 or 10 years after college, and you still low income, and you have no assets, you can discharge your students loans. College provided you no benefit, and you can discharge them, possibly subject to some clawback, where the bankruptcy court forces the college to give back some money. But if you make a decent income, or have assets, 7-10 years after going to college, you have to pay back your loans. To me, this is the best compromise. This… Read more »

Dick, the numbers that speak are the IRS numbers that Wirepoints cites that show how much AGI and money are leaving IL. Maybe there is some population growth due to sanctuary status, but it’s not money people coming. Ask the mayors of NY and DC how much they love population growth as busloads of illegals come in.

Dick,

Don’t consider replacing native born WASPy Illinoisians with illegal aliens and DACA kids progress. It’s not even a 1 for 1 wash. All you’re doing is raising the bar for the citizens that remain here.
