Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. IIRC some recent bomb threats against Target stores were traced, not to deplorable MAGA types disgusted with their Pride Month agenda but to LGBTQ++ types ticked off at Target for backing down on their Pride Month agenda. So I can’t help but suspect that something similar was going on here — the bomb threats came from lefties trying to gin up sympathy for their cause and not from “domestic terrorist” parents.

Several weeks ago, my local library sent out it’s fall flyer practically begging people return to the library. The cover was a plea to “come and see what you’ve missing, it’s really empty in here!”. It was really pathetic. The flyer itself fortunately ditched nearly all the globohomo LGBTQP+++ promotion, and the featured books were relatively tame, by publishing industry standards.
