Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. McDeath!
I often played golf at Columbus Park. Early on Saturday mornings we often encountered unusual sights. A body, hanging in a tree (OMG a lynching) determined to be a suicide. Stolen property, automobile tires and rims, hidden in the bushes. Shell casings on a green. Homeless encampments. Local sex therapists plying their trade for a quickie in the bushes if you wanted to. Always something to brighten the golf experience.
Who could have ever guessed that the Bard was writing about Chicago— “A Midsummer’s Nightmare”, “Taming of he Shrew” and “Comedy of Errors”.
“Nothing can come out of nothing” Except if it comes from Washington to balance a budget.
He that outlives this day and returns safe home shall stand a tiptoe when e’er this day be named!
Good one. That’s how we often feel around here. “We few, we happy few….”
Hark, what light on yonder breaks? Those are muzzle flashes, take cover.
“A man can die but once” (and still can cast a ballot in Chicago)
Alas poor Yorick. He was a victim of a drive by shooting and horse jacked.
“To leave, or not to leave, that is the question”
Comment of the day
Yeah, I didn’t want to suffer the slings and arrows so I left.
Left 6 years ago to Nebraska. Left Nebraska for Oklahoma when Neb gave Biden one electoral college vote despite trump winning the state. Best thing I ever did. My mortgage now is what I paid in taxes in IL.
Similar story in North Carolina. My Allstate car insurance being 1/3 of the Illinois cost was unexpected but welcome.
Please explain again how lack of investment in communities is the cause of all problems?
